In these difficult times Private Interest Foundations
(PIFs) may be the best way of protecting your current wealth
The current recession is probably the worst since that of 1929 and requires prudent action by those with potentially vulnerable assets before it is too late: the advantage of both a PIF and APT is that properly set-up they are self-owning vehicles that totally separate a settlor or founder from the assets to be donated. However, despite their unique legal structure they can both protect your assets (Business and Personal) for your designated beneficiaries (normally children, grand children etc) and even help them avoid future exposure to capital gains and inheritance taxes but of course any donations must be made at a time when the founder/settlor is not subject to potential 3rd party actions. In addition, it is often also possible that such structures have self-determination clauses that in effect allow legal ownership of assets to be returned to the original settlor/founder where circumstances make such a move beneficial or desirable.
In précis, if you feel that you have current 'surplus' assets that you do not need to avail of on a day-to-day basis it may well be to your advantage to contact an SCF/Hibernian Consultant to discuss the various possibilities.
Remember our initial consultations are FREE and could both protect your assets and reduce both your corporate and personal tax liabilities!
